playing with gesso

So heres the thing, I've been doing some research on how other people use their art journals and what they put into them, when I saw that so many artists using Gesso as a medium, I had to try it for myself. I admit my style of journaling is completely different from other journal artist out there so I was a bit weary of putting something "wet" into my journals that wasn't watercolor. I happened upon a tub of Gesso on the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby, naturally I decided to go ahead and give it a try. This was actually kind of fun to work with, and while I don't think I'll be putting it into my journals anytime soon, I now have a way of "starting with a clean slate" if you will and covering all of my not so good collages from my early days, and using them again with the knowledge i've gained over the years. To find out more about Gesso check out this link , I found a really good site that explains exactly what it is and how to use it. If your worried about the price don't be the one I bought was originally $6.00, I got it for $3.00

<lj-embed id="1" />
